No Way Out

Hidden away in the garden
behind that locked door
while the plants grow
and grow and no
way out's left for me
as I scream and scream
an animal trapped
because you want
to keep me
the key's in your hands
but you want
I don't
can't stare out the bars
covered by plants
creeping ivy everywhere
so I fall to my feet
and you'd better too
because I don't want
I need
the key to myself.

Author's Comments

I wrote a freewrite in prose, which was then translated into a poem... *g* It's a bit confusing to others (I think it is, at least) but it makes alot of sense to me. As usual.

Excellent work here! I was confused as to which stock was mine there for a moment- then I remembered the fabric. :+fav:

The image itself reminds me a lot of the documentaries about the Tower of London that I've seen. Very good work.

Very nice, I can imagine the garden the way you describe it , great idea.
I loved how it was a bit confusing how you kind of jumped around.
That's my favourtite part:
"so I fall to my feet
and you'd better too
because I don't want
I need
the key to myself."
